it’s just not quite… [poem]

Eyes darting across the room

Thoughts thrown at targets

And scored up in my head

They’re clawing at my head

And I’m clawing at my head.

That strange feeling of alertness in this

Defeated exhaustion

*caution*

Head turning

Eyes leaking

Too alive in death.

And it’s all heightened like a flame

Ignited in my head

And I’m going crazy

That’s what I said

In my head

Last time

That’s what I said.

And now it’s here again.

Rubbing arms as if to

Shed my skin

To not feel this

Drawing in

Drawing in

Gulps of air

To break the mould of a

Natural life

It’s just not quite

It’s just not quite

Normal.
